About us

About us

Committed specialists

With a workforce of more than 250 committed specialists, Airflo is a leading player in the world of international temperature-controlled logistics for flowers, plants, vegetables, fruit and herbs. We have facilities in Aalsmeer and Nairobi, which are both main hubs in the international flower and plant trade. As a company, we are large enough to achieve economies of scale and pass the resulting savings on to you as our customer. However, we are still small enough to offer a high level of flexibility compared to the major international freight forwarders.

True specialists

Every day, several hundred customers experience the benefits of working with a partner that specialises exclusively in international transport of flowers, plants, vegetables, fruit and herbs. Our colleagues are the absolute experts when it comes to transporting perishable products. They literally spend every waking moment of the day considering how they can offer you perfect service. So it is no coincidence that a growing group of growers, wholesalers, importers and exporters now entrust their precious cargo to Airflo. To give you an idea of scale; each year, we transport approximately 80 million kilos of cargo, which is roughly equivalent to the contents of more than 800 Boeing 747s.

Our people make the difference

It is the human factor that puts Airflo in a different league. Unlike our customers, whose capital often travels through the air at an altitude of 10 kilometres, Airflo’s capital is located on the work floor. With both feet on the ground. Committed, straight-talking and blessed with the no-nonsense mentality that is so typical of Airflo. Doing everything humanly possible to offer customers optimal service and deliver what we promise, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

They deal with all your logistics challenges so that you can focus your attention on what you do best. This is our way of helping you grow as a customer.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Airflo works with respect for people, nature and the environment. We also attach great importance to corporate social responsibility. We try to make the world a better place in a number of ways. For example, we recently banned plastic from all our logistics processes. And, in consultation with our packaging materials suppliers, our specialists constantly look for ways of packing more items per unit of packaging material. All with the aim of reducing our carbon footprint. An objective that we also try to achieve in other ways. For example, we recently equipped the roof of our cold store units in Nairobi with solar collectors, resulting in 60% energy self-sufficiency at that facility.

In addition, we support the local population in Nairobi’s Kibera slum. This support takes the form of donations and programmes to stimulate good education.

History

Decades of experience in international perishable logistics

Airflo was founded in the 1990s by a Dutch rose grower called Peter Zwager. This successful entrepreneur decided to take transporting his roses and the produce of other Dutch growers in Kenya into his own hands. Over the years, Airflo has become a leading specialist in the field of international perishable transport from Kenya and the Netherlands. The company now employs more than 250 people and delivers roughly 80 million kilos of flowers, plants, vegetables, fruit and herbs to many dozens of destinations worldwide each year.
